Recover Immediately After Every Shot

The shot you just hit is over. The next one matters now.

Many players admire their good shots for a split second before recovering. Unfortunately, that's often enough time for the opponent to hit the ball somewhere they're no longer prepared to reach.

Professional players seem fast because they begin recovering almost the instant the ball leaves their paddle.

Think of a sprinter finishing one stride and immediately preparing for the next. There is no pause. Every movement flows into the next one.

After every shot, make it a habit to reset your feet, return your paddle to a ready position, and prepare for the opponent's response. This rhythm keeps you engaged in the point rather than reacting late.

A fun practice drill is to have a partner randomly change directions during cooperative rallies. Your goal isn't hitting winners—it's recovering quickly enough to be ready for every shot.

The better your recovery, the less rushed every point begins to feel.

Quick tip:
Never admire your last shot. Recover immediately and prepare for the next one.
