Let Timing Beat Power

A well-timed swing almost always outperforms a hard swing.

Many players believe they need more strength to hit a better shot. More often, what they really need is better timing.

Think about a golfer. The longest drives don't come from swinging as hard as possible—they come from striking the ball at exactly the right moment with a smooth, efficient swing.

The same is true in paddle sports. Meeting the ball slightly in front of your body with good timing creates cleaner contact, better control, and surprisingly good pace.

A great practice exercise is to intentionally shorten your backswing and focus only on meeting the ball at the same point every time. Consistency in timing builds confidence much faster than trying to overpower every shot.

As your timing improves, you'll discover that the game feels easier because you're working with the ball instead of against it.

Quick tip:
Great timing creates effortless power. Slow down, meet the ball cleanly, and let your technique do the work.
